These are practical checks, not a certificate of legal compliance. Your obligations depend on your work, location and business structure. UPALAP approval does not replace a regulator’s licence or permission.
Before taking jobs
Provide a valid ABN, correct service categories and suburbs, current insurance and police-check documents for staff review. Keep documents current and update your account if circumstances change. Follow Australian Consumer Law service guarantees, Victorian occupational health and safety requirements, and applicable tax and employment obligations. Do not claim a verification is complete merely because information was submitted.
Food and alcohol
Catering may require registration or notification with the local council, food-safety supervision and safe food handling under Victorian food laws. Bartending involving the supply or service of alcohol may require a valid Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate and an appropriate liquor licence or authorisation for the venue and event. Do not offer regulated work until the applicable requirements are confirmed.
Children, events and images
Work involving children may require a Victorian Working with Children Check; assess the role and do not rely on a police check as a substitute. Event and wedding providers should check venue rules, public liability cover and any permits. Photographers should obtain suitable consent before photographing, using or publishing identifiable people, particularly children, and respect customer privacy and copyright.
Trades and specialist work
Only perform work you are legally allowed and competent to do. Building, electrical and plumbing work may require Victorian registration or licensing even when a request is described as handyman work. Decline or refer regulated tasks outside your authorisation. Keep job completion photographs limited to evidence necessary for the booking or dispute.
